Taking a Break From All Your Worries Sure Could Help A Lot

Yes, I just quoted the theme from Cheers. It's been that kind of day. And no, I'm not at a bar. Although supposedly Tom Bergin's House of Irish Coffee, which is just down the road, was the basis for the bar in Cheers.

What got me thinking about taking a break was an article in the latest issue of Writer magazine. In it, Arthur Plotnik (author of Spunk & Bite: A Writer's Guide to Bold, Contemporary Style) lists 7 productive ways to take a break from writing.

My two favorites are #4 "Visit a place where distinctive things are labeled and fill a notebook with... fresh metaphors" and #7 "Wander the library."

Who's with me?

  1. Mmm. I love wandering the library. And can the labeled things be chocolates? I'm all for that.
